Direct and Indirect Waves
Direct waves or D-waves are compound action potentials with approximately 50 m/s conduction velocity whose amplitude is greatest when the bipolar recording electrode is near the spinal cord.
The D-Wave set up is exactly the same as an MEP but you record from the spinal electrode instead of the muscles and you only use a single pulse tcMEP stim using 2 spinal electrodes.
