The Brain V
***Imagine that you feel a spider crawling on the nape of your neck.
That information is passed from skin receptors to the spinal cord, from the spinal cord to the thalamus and from there to the somatic sensory cortex. Connections with the frontal lobe (not shown) allow you to evaluate the seriousness of any threat and to formulate the appropriate motor response which is then conveyed to the proper muscles, in the correct sequence via the corticospinal pathways.
