University of the Pacific Competency Guidelines
ANSI
1. You will need to complete testing on: 1 set of RICs, 1 BTE and 1 custom HA. If you already have competencies on 2 sets of RICs, then your last competency will be on the 1 BTE/1 custom. All styles must be completed successfully.
2. Distortion testing: test this in user settings. This is different than what was allowed last semester (and up to this point). If you test the distortion in RTG, we will not sign off on this.
3. Direction testing: test using the .4 cc (silver) coupler with TRIC adapter. If you use the ANSI coupler, we will not sign off on this.
4. You must write out the specs table:
a. List the specifications
b. List the tolerances
c. List the ANSI numbers
d. List the manufacturer spec numbers
e. Determine if the hearing aid is in specs and/or if there is something that would cause you to send it back to the manufacturer

HA Troubleshooting
ALWAYS do listening checks!
Always check the sound in/sound out mechanisms.
Always check every part that could have an issue with it: hearing aids will often have more than one issue. Make sure to evaluate every part
Practice EM/custom HA ID: know how to tell if it is a right or left hearing aid
Practice retubing identification. Know which hole is the vent and which hole is for the tube, Practice using the tube puller to get the tubing into the earmold and practice positioning it correctly so it can be cut

REM/RECD
For REM/RECD,
1. You will need to complete testing on: 1 set of RICs with open domes, 1 set of RICs with closed domes, and a BTE with your listening molds
2. Make sure you hold/stabilize the probe tube in place
3. Make sure you perform otoscopy
4. Make sure you have entered all of the correct information regarding the hearing aid and the fitting (everything under the "Audiometry" tab)
